My typical week involves working full time at a DC based architecture firm and trying to maintain a bit of work-life balance by going on daily adventures to discover more within Washington, DC. This is my daily practice of small travel which keeps me excited, inspired and constantly seeking to find more PLACES. If you don't know a lot about DC, the first thing I like to tell people is that it may be our nation's Capitol but there is SO much more than meets the eye in this city and I hope to introduce you to them in this Daily DC series.
Here are some PLACES I've enjoyed recently:

GEORGETOWN NEIGHBORHOOD LIBRARY
This library is beautiful and quaint inside with lots of natural light, a classic. I had always seen the building but never stopped to see the interior and it is truly inspiring place with a simplistic balance of historic preservation and modern function.

BOOK HILL PARK
This park sits behind the Georgetown Library off of Wisconsin Avenue. It's high on the hill and gives a great view of the city. On this fall day, it was an especially breathtaking find.

THE KENNEDY CENTER Twyla Tharp 50th Anniversary Tour
This amazing show was put on by Twyla Tharp a choreographer who authored a favorite book of mine, The Creative Habit. This was one of the first shows I've experienced in The Kennedy Center. I have always admired this DC landmark from an exterior architectural perspective but the designer in me appreciated it just as much for its eloquent use of interior space.

THE RENWICK GALLERY Re-Opening Day
The Renwick Gallery has been under renovation for the past two years and was finally re-opened this weekend! The have an amazing opening exhibition called WONDER that is a must-see!

SPANISH AMBASSADOR'S FORMER RESIDENCE FOTO Week DC
This past week was FOTO Week DC which was an ongoing series of talks, discussions, workshops and exhibitions geared toward a community of photographers in DC. The main location was at the Spanish Ambassador's Former Residence which was a gem inside and out.

If you live in or are planning to visit DC, I will be adding all my discoveries from the Daily DC series to this MAP so you can easily find my recommendations.

Lastly, you may have found me on INSTAGRAM... but now I'm also on SNAPCHAT which I've actually never used before but am loving the experience you can have with it! It will be mostly snaps of DC as I cruise on the back of our Vespa. Basically real-time Daily DC adventures!

Follow PLACES.STUDIO and come along for the ride, literally.
